  • Motu: Motu is a central protagonist in the show, a chubby man who loves eating samosas which increases his power and abilities. He's a good-natured guy who is easily fooled, often landing in trouble with his best friend Patlu. He's not skilled in any job, but tries working in various positions, causing troubles and getting fired. He's bald on the head, has hair on the ears, and a mustache, wearing a red tunic with blue vest, yellow pajamas, and shoes. He has a Dara Singh-influenced accent and is afraid of mice. In the movie, his father was abducted by aliens when he was young. His catchphrase is "You do something, I can't think on an empty stomach!". In newer episodes, his tunic has maroon vertical stripes.

  •  Patlu: Patlu is a thin man who is one of the central characters in the show. He is intelligent, but often gets into trouble with his friend Motu. He doesn't like samosas and prefers to read the newspaper. It's believed that his grandfather was a boxing champion and had a recipe for strength. He has a strong South Indian accent and is a fan of Rajinikanth. Chingum drives a green police motorcycle and jeep. He is married and has a mustache and brown hair.   • Boxer:  Boxer is a strong and aggressive neighbor of Motu. He wears red boxing gloves, a white tank top and red shorts with yellow stripes. He is known to be not a good parent and easily gets angry, often resulting in him beating up others. However, he wants to help his neighbors but ends up causing more harm than good. He is strong but can be easily fooled and beaten. He has a good relationship with Chingum and often teams up with him. His real name is "Raju".

  • John:  John is the main antagonist of the show and wants to become a Don. He is a plump and short man who faces discrimination and is known for his thievery skills, mimicry and disguise. Despite his cunningness, he often fails in his plans and gets arrested or taunted. He is afraid of Motu and Patlu but not of Chingum. He wears a blue dress shirt, yellow undershirt, dark blue pants, and brown shoes and is adorned with gold chains, rings, and a locket with J written on it. He has a black mole on his left cheek. He likes to rob banks and jewelry shops and has a van. He started stealing since childhood, starting with someone's home, then chocolate from a girl, and then food from restaurants.

  • Chaiwala: Chaiwala is the owner of a tea shop in Furfuri Nagar, where Motu and Patlu live. He is famous for making Motu's favorite samosas and Patlu's favorite tea. Despite Motu often stealing his food, Chaiwala sometimes rewards him for saving him from other residents. Chaiwala is depicted as wearing a white undershirt and lungi, with a towel over his neck, and gets frustrated when Motu doesn't pay for his food.
